Sacrifice

text: Luke 12:49-50; 2COR 6:3-10. DEFINITION The act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do something  else or to help someone. A destruction or surrender of something for the sake of something else.  Something giving up or lost. To suffer loss of give up, renounce, injure or destroy especially for an ideal, belief or end. INTRODUCTION: In this day of unbelievable blessings and tremendous affluence one of the most difficult concepts to get across to God’s children is the need for sacrifice. It is not acceptable to eliminate (do away with the necessity of sacrifice of Christian living). It is the means of maturity and the measurement of our individual and our congregational strength. Sacrifice is essential to pleasing God in every generation and for the growth of an individual. When one think of the bible and sacrifice, one’s mind turn to father Abraham when he offered Isaac, his son whom he loved, on the altar (Gen.22; ...

Spiritual Nails

Sermon delivered by bro. Kelvin Chiweoke Andrew  text: Isaiah 22:25 INTRODUCTION Nails: Yes-I’m sure you are wondering – nail? What about it ? According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, a nail is a long, thin piece of metal that is SHARP at one end… From the Hebrew word (ʼת ך ), transliterated yâthéd, pronounced yaw-thade’, nails are defined from an unused root as to PIN through or fasten. To derive this message home, let us consider two concepts. The first of the messages is a story I’ll share shortly. The second is a prayer point about spiritual nails. DISCUSSION Whether this story was real or allegorical, I cannot determine. A man and his wife wanted to buy a house. They needed the house but had limited resources. From frantic searches, they came across a fantastic, unbeatable offer. They could not believe such a beautiful house could be sold at such a “ridiculous price”. They called the phone number advertised. The owner was willing to sell house to them even at le...

Contentment

By Bro. Williams Ovedhe text: Phil. 4:11. DEFINITION :  Being contented – satisfied. INTRODUCTION Contentment is a process of learning to be content with the things one has. It is not an attitude of mind with which one is born. It is an attitude of mind that one develops by focusing on that which is above this material world (Luke 3:9-14.) Christians should judge themselves (Luke 19:8-10.).  Christian should be known for being satisfied with those things they have.  (Matt. 6:24-25; 33: 34.) It is impossible to focus one’s life on services to the master in heaven and the same time making material things the master of our lives (1King 3:7-12). When your request is in conformity with that God, he expands you your expectations. (1Tim.6:6-10).  Christian should focus on spiritual things that will result in eternal life. God ordained that the things of this world are to sustain us on our brief stay here, in preparation for eternal life.  ...

Introduction:  Coming together in the habit of Christians in order to sharping one and other for the good works of the lord-the acts of the early Christians.  II Cor.4:10 when one bears the cross of Christ he accepts the burden of the cross .  I Cor. 15:58 what God has done for us through Jesus, should move us to the bound in the work of the Lord. II Cor. 5:10 when one realises that he will give account of his actions before his Creator, then he is motivated to do the will of the Creator, II Cor. 1:7. As we willingly suffered with Christ, we will also partake of the result of our suffering, II Pet. 3:8-9. What God has said, He will do. What we might consider to be slowness on the part of God to fulfil His promises is not slowness. God is not slow to bring about His promise, Heb. 2:2-3. Those who violated the law did...
